Yes, yes, homage to the blue moon, perhps the moon caused the drinker to cast down his bottle and start a new life.
rabid - thank you for the comment. I prefer to think that the broken glass belonged to someone else, and that the writer was forced to clean up or avoid that person's mess, but the beauty of haiku is that all interpretations are "correct".
