bill - you have a good point, shared by many, that haiku should focus on what is observed and not on what is not. in this case the word "miss" refers to being too late to acknowledge the show of affection as it happened rather than being unaware of the action entirely. admittedly this haiku has problems, therefore I appreciate the comments.
